What is L-Carnitine?

How does L-Carnitine Work?

L-Carnitine is especially relevant to cardiovascular energy metabolism, as the heart gets 70% of its energy from fat breakdown [2]. Carnitine levels in the heart are quickly diminished during ischemic events, and supplementation with L-carnitine has been shown to replenish depleted myocardial carnitine levels for efficient cardiac metabolism and, specifically, left ventricular function [2].
