Acute Immune Boost has been designed specifically for rapid support of the immune system with high quality nutrients and botanical extracts to quickly restore optimal functioning. It has been formulated to use short term at the onset of common viral illness or for immune support when viral threats are present in the environment at work, school, or during air travel.

This potent blend contains top nutrients involved in positive immune function including Vitamins A, C, D and zinc. Two top research-supported herbs for immune health, elderberry and Andrographis complete this synergistic formula.

  • Provides potent immune boost during times of seasonal or environmental viral threats.
  • Supplies Andrographis and Elderberry in research-backed amounts for acute immune support.
  • Aids protection by supplying needed nutrients for optimal immune response.

Acute Immune Boost has been designed specifically for support of the immune defense system with high quality nutrients and medicinal extracts to help reduce the incidence of infection, calm symptoms, and/or shorten the duration of common colds.

Acute Immune Boost contains top nutrients involved in positive immune function including Vitamins A, C and D and zinc [1]. Two top immune boosting plant extracts, elderberry and Andrographis complete this potent formula.

Uses: Acute Immune Boost has been formulated to use short term at the onset of common viral illness for immune system support. It may also be used for immune support when viral threats are present in the environment at work, school, or during air travel.

The common cold is the leading cause for missed work and school and can lead to complications such as ear infections, sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia that may call for medical intervention, making early immune support a potential cost savings.

Herbal Ingredients:

Elderberries have long been used in traditional, natural remedies for colds and flus. More recently, some observational and clinical studies have linked elderberries to a significant reduction in the duration and severity of colds and flu-like symptoms [7]. A recent study has also shown preventative benefits to taking elderberry before extended air travel. The study noted significant reduction on both severity and duration in colds in those who supplemented with elderberry before and during trips when compared to a placebo group. Elderberries also contain a variety of nutrients ranging from various vitamins (A, B1, B2, B6, B9, C and E), trace elements such as Cu, Zn, Fe and minerals such as K, Ca and Mg, to phytochemicals such as carotenoids, phytosterols and polyphenols.

Andrographis or A. Paniculata (Burm.f.) Wall ex Nees (Acanthaceae family), also known as nemone chinensi, or Chuān Xīn Lián, is traditionally used in Chinese herbal medicine and ayurvedic medicine as an antipyretic for relief from the severity and duration of common colds, alleviating fevers, coughs, and sore throats [9]. Studies have shown that A. Paniculata has also been effective against avian influenza and human influenza viruses, in vitro [9].

Immune Supportive Nutrients:

Vitamin C: A highly effective antioxidant that protects proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids from damage by free radicals [2]. [3]. Regular supplementation of vitamin C has demonstrated a reduced duration (in adults by 8%, in children by 14%) and severity of the common cold, as well as decreased incidence of the common cold by 9% in the general population [1].

Zinc: Impaired immune function due to inadequate zinc status may be the most common cause of secondary immunodeficiency in humans [3]. Zinc inhibits rhinoviral replication and has been demonstrated to shorten the duration of colds by approximately 33%. It is suggested that zinc supplementation is most effective when started within 24 hours of symptom onset [3].

Vitamin D: Recent experiments have shed a brighter light on the immune-enhancing properties of vitamin D, specifically its role in innate immunity and localized monocyte production of vitamin D-dependent antimicrobial proteins that combat infections [4].

Vitamin A is also known for its positive effects on the human immune response toward viral disease. Vitamin A plays an essential role in many physiologic processes, one of which is modulation of immune function.

N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC): Evidence shows NAC has a protective effect over the strength of the immune system, especially in the aging population, and may aid in shortening the duration of respiratory tract/bronchial infections [13,14]. NAC is used in conditions with excess mucus formation to thin mucus for easier expectoration.
